Mission Report:
- Honduras
(other Mission Reports)
April,
2003
For
the last 11 years, Bro. Paul LaFontaine has been traveling to the
Latin American country of Honduras and working faithfully with the
saints in that region. This year he invited me to accompany him for
special Easter Meetings and also to minister to the couples and
families in the meetings. On April 15-23, 2003 Bro. Paul, myself,
Bro. Aaron McGeary and five others flew from Miami to Honduras where
we held a total of 13 meetings in the capital city.
Personally,
I was very impressed with the quality and maturity of the youth and
their sincere desire to learn from the Word. They also had a great
number of talented musicians and singers as well as a tremendous
church choir. We took 4 services to minister to the married couples
and families on the weekend, and they appeared to be so blessed,
despite the severe economic conditions that exist in the nation. It
is very difficult for families to make a good living in the present
economy and many of the people travel to the United States to find
work and support for families back home. The Easter meetings gave us
an opportunity to encourage and strengthen families within the Body
to continue to trust the Lord for all He has promised to provide.
I
was very surprised at the lack of Messages translated into Spanish.
Since the Message has been brought to the Spanish speaking Believers
for such a long time, it was surprising to see such a small number
of books and tapes translated into that language. Translating books
into Spanish would help many Believers in many countries, not only
in the country of Honduras. The saints of Literal Life Tabernacle in
Toledo with Bro. Paul are endeavoring to begin translation work into
Spanish and have books printed in the region. Brother Branham always
spoke positively about the Spanish speaking Believers, and his trips
to Mexico and the region were always full of testimonies about the
supernatural hand of God moving among the people. He says in the
Message Looking For Jesus, (Phoenix, AZ 54-0228), “I'm very
grateful. I'm sure this audience tonight is grateful for this
marvelous piece of singing that they have just give us in the Name
of the Lord. Aren't you? …I believe the Spanish people was the
first, outside of English-speaking people, that I ever prayed for,
was the Spanish people. I wondered how I would get along. They love
me. I love them. And immediately, I seen that God was with us.”
There
are over 100 churches in the country of Honduras and they enjoy
quite a good spirit of unity among the ministering brethren. An
invitation was extended for us to return, perhaps next Easter and
also to become involved in the work of spreading the Message in that
region. We are looking for the Spirit of the Lord to continue to
bless the Ministers and Believers in the country of Honduras in the
future.
