Prayer, Part 2: Teach Us to Pray

LUKE 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

FEAST.OF.THE.TRUMPETS 64-0719M 1-1 Lord, on one occasion it was said by Thy beloved disciples, "Teach us to pray." For when we catch sight of the great God of heaven, we do realize how insufficient we are. So teach us to pray, Lord, in our hearts now, for the things that would be beneficiary to Thy Kingdom and for Thy servants. Thou knowest the need of every person here. And here on the desk this morning is handkerchiefs, and aprons, and just little parcels from the needy of physical aid, and domestic, and whatever it might be. But Thou art God and God alone, the only true God that there is; and we ask Thee in the Name of Jesus, Thy beloved Son, that You will heal each of these. …There may be some out across the nations around the world that (even this tape) would meet in their homes or their churches. We would pray, Lord, that while the service is going on that or the tape is being played, or whatever position we might be in, or condition, may the great God of heaven honor this sincerity of our hearts this morning, and heal the needy, give to them what they have need of. Bless us now in the coming on service. Speak through us like never before for the Kingdom of God's sake. Amen.

Here’s how NOT to pray:

MATTHEW 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Some things require more earnest prayer:

CHOOSING.OF.A.BRIDE 65-0429E 8-6 And if we would study what we were doing when we were going to get married, when we choose our wife or husband... A man should pray earnestly, for he could ruin his entire life. Remember the vow is "Until death do we part." And he could ruin his life by making the wrong choice. But if he knows what he's making the wrong choice and is marrying a woman that isn't fit to be his wife, and he does it anyhow, then it's his fault. If the woman takes a husband and knows that he's not fit to be a husband to you, then that's your own fault after you know what's right and wrong. So you shouldn't do it until you thoroughly pray through.

It’s good to be alone:

MATTHEW 14:22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

BLIND.BARTIMAEUS 57-0301 E-9 You know there's something about getting alone to yourself. Many people never pray until they come to church. Many people thinks that the only place to pray is at church, but the Bible said for men to pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands. And then when we get by ourself, we'll usually pray different than what we would if we pray it in church. It's the secret prayer that Jesus spoke of, saying, "Enter ye into a secret closet, and close the door, and when you have did so, pray to your Father Who sees in secret; and He that seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." And when we're praying like that, there seems to be something to the prayer that takes all the hypocrisy out of it. It seems like that we get in a better connection with God, to get alone. And there's been many times in my life, as perhaps in your life, that you just have to get alone once in a while with Jesus. I've took my car and drove down the road and just studying. After I got to the highway where it was free, or off on some country road, till I would become so filled with His mercies and goodness, till I'd just stopped the car and held the wheel and wept like a baby.

E-10 That being alone... Many times I've climbed up into the mountains. Where every man thought (was with me), I was going hunting. Go up there, and set down on a rock, and just look up to the sky until looked like that my whole innermost being become filled with something that you could just feel... Oh, everything of the world seemed to pass away. Oh, for those precious hours alone with God.

And it's there that when the greatest revelation and inspiration comes, is when we're alone with God. We'd take more time on that, I'm sure, that we would live a better life, more victorious life in Christ.

What happens when Believers pray:

ACTS 12:1-19 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

TESTIMONY.OF.JESUS.CHRIST 53-0829 E-70 ... It's just like Christians, when we pray, that gathers up a barricade like. When you're praying and believing me... Jesus could do no mighty works in His own town because the people didn't believe. And the only way I can help you, or Brother Osborn, or anybody, is when you have faith in us, as ministers of the Word of God. You've got to believe us. And when them demons... They're calling for one another, like that. And they scream and pull. Pray out there and find out if it's not right.

The opposite effect in the atmosphere of unbelief:

MARK 8:23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

MATTHEW 11:20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: 21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you 23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

RESTORATION.OF.BRIDE.TREE 62-0422 17-2 And if Satan has robbed you… If he's afflicted you and made you sick, we have a right before God to enforce the laws of God: "By His stripes we are healed." Amen. Bring him back; turn him loose. You're taking him out yonder to death, and we claim him. Bring him back." Now, that's the enforcement. Restore it back to its natural condition again. A man's sick, baby's sick, woman's sick; they're out of their natural condition. Then we have a right to enforce our claim: not our claim it's our claim because God give it to us: "By His stripes we were healed; He was wounded for our transgressions; with His stripes we were healed." Now, we have a right to enforce that law. And the Lawgiver, the Holy Spirit Himself is here, the Agent of God to see that it's done that way. Now, the only way He can work is when you let Him work. You've got to believe it.

17-7 There's a law... given amongst everything. You know, a fish has a law. And that fish can stand up here in water, and he has a law within him. If he will just let go of that law that's in him, he can sink plumb to the bottom of the sea: won't bother him a bit; won't break one cell. You try to do it. That law's not in you. You can't do it, but the fish can. …And he's made that way; he knows it, and he can enforce that law to take him plumb to the bottom of the sea and then raise him back up again.

18-1 Oh, there was a law in Christ; that law's in man. You can bury him to the deepest grave, or the deepest sea, or the lowest hell; there's a law of the Spirit of God, that'll raise him up again.

18-3 Now, we have a law, the law of the Life in us. ...You're made, and borned, and placed here in the Body of Christ as sons and daughters of God. You don't have to "knuck" down to the devil. We've got a law; that's the law of the Holy Spirit. The only thing you have to do, is know how to let go and let God. You keep fighting at it (See?), and it won't never work. When you let go and let God, that's all...

Forces Against Prayer:

According to the Bible, the kingdoms of this world are under the dominion of Satan, except Israel!

An antichrist system formed in the earth, able to gather power but not to fully exercise it until this Scripture be fulfilled and the Bride is extracted from the earth.

II Thes.2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Until that time every demon power is set against the forming of Christ in you! To keep you from becoming an overcomer, a zealous, righteous man or woman of God.

200 million demons let out, so we can’t pray like we used to. (Sunny day, cloudy day, still sun!)

Bride will be driven to her knees in desperation in the same way Israel was driven to Palestine.

We’re enjoying a season of maturing, ripening, until the final entrance to tribulation.

FEAST.OF.THE.TRUMPETS 64-0719M 23-1 23-2 And when Hitler and them persecuted the Jews, and did the things that they done under that... Jews has scattered throughout all the land, but there has raised in the last twenty years a bitter persecution against the Jews. I've been out there at the old places, where they burnt their bodies, and cremated, and used their ashes to fertilize the ground, Jewish children, and women, and everything. Then they try to deny it. Take them right out and show them where it was done. It's been a regular persecution against Israel, because it's been the time calling him now back to the Atonement; he is still under the atonement of a natural lamb. The Real Lamb of God is the Atonement, and he's rejected It, and the blood's been upon him ever since.

23-4 Notice, making ready the people. How perfect then the Seventh Trumpet and the Seventh Seal is. (Revelations 9:13) And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. 16 And the number of the army of the horsemen [were] two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses [were] as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails [were] like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: 21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

…there was two hundred thousand horsemen that had been bound in the river of Euphrates was turned loose under the Sixth Trumpet. Now, there's not two hundred thousand horsemen in the world, but there was two hundred thousand horsemen… They wasn't natural horses. …It was spiritual horses, spiritual devils, chargers, that had been bound in Euphrates all these years, supernatural devils. What was it? The old Roman Empire being revived, the persecution of the Jews. And they'd been bound for nearly two thousand years at the river Euphrates, can't cross to the promise, a religious sect that was trying to get to the other side. Euphrates, you know, come through Eden. But they were bound there, two hundred thousand devils of persecution.

24-1 And notice what happens under that Sixth Trumpet. They were turned loose on the Jews, the persecution of the Jews. Supernatural devils, nearly two thousand years, then loosed by Stalin, Hitler, upon the Jews. You say, "Well, that isn't Roman." It's the same spirit that done the same things it did to the Christians in the old pagan Roman days (Now, watch the natural Israel and the spiritual Church now, as we separate it here.) turned loose on the Jews. You remember, under the Sixth Seal how every one of those martyrs are calling--according to the Word of God receive robes? It was given to them by the grace, because they're blinded that they can't see the Gospel, that this people might be called out of the Gentiles for the Bride. They were given robes; the Bible said so under that trumpet, them Jews, who absolutely is against Christ and everything. The reason they are, is because the Bible said they're blinded; and they were blinded for your sake. And the just God knows that they would receive It, but they were made blind for your sake. The Bible said so.

24-4 …loosed upon the Jew, who knowed nothing of the spirit. There's your mysteries that's hid under that seal there.

26-2 Now, he loosed... Under that Sixth Seal, these two hundred thousand spiritual demons, started in Rome, Germany--Hitler. Notice, over in the Bible where they received--never--they received power as kings, but wasn't crowned. A dictator's not a crowned king, just receive power as a king.

26-4 Notice, two hundred thousand demons turned loose upon those Jews, when they burned them, they crucified them; they put bubbles in their veins; they killed them till they had no more gas to kill them with; and they shot them till they had no more bullets to shoot with; and they--and they done everything they could do. They cremated their bodies and everything, and hung them on fences, children and all, innocent people. Because they were Jews, they were done that way. But God said He give each one of them a robe, undeserving as they was, but His grace to blind them so that we could see...

26-8 Notice, that natural power under the natural, to a natural nation, Israel, was loosed there. And what did it? It went and made war, and how it murdered and persecuted. Now in the ecclesiastical realm of it... I hope that God opens your eyes to this now…

27-2 Well, what has it done? In the cunningness, as He said, he'd come in like flatteries. And what has he done? He's bringing the Protestant ecumenical council of the world churches, the spirit of antichrist, upon both of them, bringing them to the slaughter, just like they did the other in a hour to call the Bride. How? Loosed in the ecclesiastical church, spirit. Loosed upon what? Not upon the denominations, upon the Bride. But here you'd get it; the Bride will not go through that time. The Bible says not. The church will, but not the Bride.

28-2 Notice, the loosing of this ecclesiastical spirit. Now, twenty years later after that war, we see the loosing of the ecclesiastical spirit, what under? …What is it? Joining in with the ecclesiastical bunch. The ecumenical move, and with the World Council of Churches has drove every man... What does that thing stand for? Why, you have to surrender all your evangelical teachings and things.

28-5 Notice, quickly now, these supernatural demons. Then under the auspices of a United Nations... Just like the right and left foot of the image that Daniel saw... Oh, my, the hour that we're living, the church and it's condition. But thank God, the little Bride has made Herself ready. It ain't long, just hold on. I don't know how long, don't know when (nobody knows that), but we know it's close now.

29-5 The hour that we're living, the ecclesiasticals, the spirits uniting together now and bringing them all to this big one slaughter to blot out; it's already in writing here in this nation now. …And a power, a ecclesiastical power, Jesus said it'd be so close like the real thing, it'd deceive the very elected, if it was possible. But He promised to have something here for us in that day, that we wouldn't be deceived, and that's the Word, and Christ to make It manifest to us. They're supernaturals devils unseen to the eye, but you can see what they're doing.

30-1 They've been bound for two thousand years almost, almost two thousand years. Not exactly two thousand, 'cause the Romans kept on going (that Titus in A.D. 96, and on down like that) to kill the Jews, the Romans. Who was it killed the Jews? Who was Titus? A Roman general.

ANGEL.OF.THE.LORD 51-0718 E-16 And when you see these crowds gathering, that doesn't mean revival; that's just a gathering. But a revival is when people get really right with God, and pray through, and starts a revival throughout the city, and everything. They put away sin, put away their iniquity, turn to God, turn around and start back again, the road. …Now, concerning the operation of the spiritual gift, Brother Baxter will teach you in his afternoon meetings and so forth, what is germ diseases, how they're demons, and how they hold people, and possess people.

GOD.IS.HIS.OWN.INTERPRETER 64-0205 119 …You never tell a Pentecost that sanctification's all of it; he's seen the restoration of the gifts… No, he's got more than that. And that's the last church age that we had, and the Bible says there'll be no more church ages. But there's to be a gathering of the people and here we are. Now, remember, the last sign. Are we people looking for a promised Son? Raise up your hand. Do you believe you are the seed of Abraham by being in Christ? Raise up your hand. Then, seed of Abraham, receive your sign. It isn't out in Babylon; it isn't out there in denominational world. It's here among you, those who are not in that mess out there. Believe it.
