TEMPTATION
GALATIANS 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked:
for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap
corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of
the Spirit reap life everlasting.
JAMES 1:1-4; 12-16
(12) Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for
when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life,
which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Temptation:
(Gr.) peirasmos an experiment, attempt, trial, proving;
trial, proving.
1b) the trial of man's
fidelity, integrity, virtue, constancy: also an
enticement to sin, temptation, whether arising from the
desires or from the outward circumstances; an internal
temptation to sin: of the temptation by which the devil
sought to divert Jesus the Messiah from his divine
errand; of the condition of things, or a mental state,
by which we are enticed to sin, or to a lapse from the
faith and holiness; adversity, affliction, trouble: sent
by God and serving to test or prove one's character,
faith, holiness.
Temptation: Something that
motivates you to do evil while falsely promising
something good.
Gen. 39:1-2, 6-12
Trial: A test of your faith, an
ordeal which refines you.

140:1-6

And they made David mad because the daughters, the
churches, the churches was singing, "Saul, might've
killed his thousands, but David killed his tens of
thousands."
Then he got jealous, "That old
Jesus' Name stuff, there's nothing to it." That's right.
And what did God do to him? God sent an evil spirit upon
him to hate David, and he hated David without a cause.
David could've wrung his neck a few times. He could, but
he just let it go. He just never said nothing. He sure
could've done it. He went over and cut the tail of his
coat off one night, come back, said, "Looky here, you
see?" Yes, sir, he could've done it, but he just let him
alone. He could've broke his congregation up, and
scattered them, and started an organization of hisself
if he wanted to. But he didn't do it; he just let Saul
go on. Let God do the fighting.
COD 61-1015M 682-Q-165
Is it possible for a
Holy Ghost filled person to be driven driven to do minor
things... influenced to dominor things that he doesn't
want to do?
Oh, yes. Yes, sir. Yeah, a Holy
Ghost filled person... You're right in the place then to
be drove by these things. You just put yourself up a
target. When you're down there serving the devil, he
just lets you slouch around anyway you want to. But you
once take a stand for Christ; you've got on the other
side then; He trains every gun right around on you.
Every temptation, everything that could be throwed to
you, then you got it. But what have you got? "Greater is
He that's in you, than he that's in the world." Now, you
wasn't in no battle here, you was just slopping along.
See? But now, you've cleaned up; you've dressed up;
you've shaved; you've combed your hair; you put on a
uniform; you've got a gun in your hand. "Let's go." See?
You're in battle, not to show off, but to fight, fight.
Sure when the temptations rise, with the spirit and the
shield of faith, buckle off and move on."
HEBREWS 2:14
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh
and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the
same; that through death he might destroy him that had
the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver
them who through fear of death were all their lifetime
subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on
[him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the
seed of Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it
behoved him to be made like unto [his] brethren, that he
might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things
[pertaining] to God, to make reconciliation for the sins
of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath
suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that
are tempted.
How do we deal with temptation?
1.
Counteract It.
Don’t fertilize it.
The worst way to deal with it
is to stay within reach of whatever weakens you.
Romans 6:13; Ephesians 4:29
2. Don’t Attempt to
Reason things out.
Most often these things come as distractions.
Proverbs 4:25;
I JOHN 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits
whether they are of God: because many false prophets are
gone out into the world.
MANIFESTED.SONS.OF.GOD
60-0518 205 The church
is supposed to be predestinated unto the adoption of
children, where God can take a man and adopt him into
the family and give him something. First, try that and
see if its right. The Bible said try the spirits. This
man claims a certain thing; try it and see if it's
right. If it's as right, move right with it. Then say,
"Lord, send us something else." Keep moving; just keep
moving say, "Every fellow take his place." Then you're
going to see the church of God begin to get its place.
Then's when the Philistines will go to backing up
3. Remind yourself
it’s all temporary pleasure.
Hebrews 11:24 Key is
“for a season…”
HEBREWS 11:24
By faith Moses, when he was come
to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's
daughter; 25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with
the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin
for a season; 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ
greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had
respect unto the recompence of the reward.
4.
Apply the Word and
Control your Thoughts.
Ps. 119:9; Ephesians
6:10
II CORINTHIANS 10:1
Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and
gentleness of Christ, who in presence [am] base among
you, but being absent am bold toward you: 2 But I
beseech [you], that I may not be bold when I am present
with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold
against some, which think of us as if we walked
according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the
flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons
of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God
to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down
imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself
against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6
And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience,
when your obedience is fulfilled.
5.
Look for peace in the midst of every trial. Col. 3:15
Spiritual discernment is
critical in every area of life, no matter how small,
because every decision has an effect upon your
fellowship with the Lord and the fulfillment of His
will. If you don’t acquire a spiritual discernment in
life, you will begin to respond from your feelings and
instant reactions. You will do what comes naturally.
When a Christian does this he or she is no longer doing
what come spiritually as it is always natural for the
flesh to disobey God.
Christians often separate their
Christian life from their common everyday life. God
never intended that to be the approach you take. He
intends to be involved in every decision you make no
matter how small. If you want to make wide decisions,
stay consecrated. Walk committed to Him. Separate
yourself for Him, to Him and under Him daily. You will
never hear from Him nor live victorious if there is
unconfessed sin in your life. |
